Last week Thursday, I had the huge honour of collaborating with Paid Media Specialist, Shani Granderson on a workshop that I’ve wanted to run for a very long time.
And if you missed it, here are some of the major take aways.
One of the biggest challenges I hear from entrepreneurs is this: “I know I need to show up online… but I just can’t stay consistent.”
Closely followed by: “I’ve tried ads before, but they didn’t work.”
The truth is, both of these challenges are deeply connected. If your content lacks consistency and structure, your ads will struggle to perform. And if your ads are not built on the right foundation, they will feel like money going down the drain.
Let’s start here because this is where most people go wrong.
Content creation is not simply about showing up and posting something every day. It is about creating content that connects with your audience, builds trust over time, and ultimately drives results for your business.
When content feels random, results will always feel inconsistent. That “feast or famine” cycle so many entrepreneurs experience is usually not a visibility issue….it’s a strategy issue.
And that strategy begins with understanding exactly who you are speaking to.
Before you create anything, you need clarity.
Who is your ideal client? What problems are they facing? What do they care about right now?
Many business owners skip this step because they feel their product is for “everyone.” But in reality, effective marketing always speaks to someone very specific. When you understand your audience properly, your content becomes sharper, more relevant, and far more impactful.
Your job is not to create content you like. Your job is to create content your audience needs.
One of the most important shifts you need to make is moving away from constant selling.
If every post is “buy now,” your audience will disengage quickly. Instead, your content should be balanced in a way that delivers value first and sells second.
The most effective approach is to focus primarily on content that educates, informs, or helps your audience solve a problem, while still leaving room for content that promotes your offer.
This balance builds trust. And trust is what ultimately leads to conversion.
A lot of people believe consistency means daily posting. It doesn’t.
Consistency means showing up regularly with a plan.
One of the most effective ways to achieve this is by repurposing your content. Instead of constantly trying to create something new, you take one idea and turn it into multiple formats. A single video can become shorter clips, a written post, or even a blog.
This approach removes pressure and allows you to stay visible without feeling overwhelmed.
Another key strategy is planning ahead. Most of my content is not created and posted in real time. It is scheduled in advance. That means even on busy weeks, my content continues to go out consistently.
Batching also plays a major role here. Rather than creating one piece of content at a time, I set aside time to create several pieces at once. This could mean recording multiple videos in one sitting or writing several posts together. It saves time, builds momentum, and keeps your pipeline full.
And of course, tools like AI can support this process; helping with ideas, captions, and structure, but it’s important that your voice remains authentic throughout.
One of the most powerful things I always remind entrepreneurs is this:
People are watching your content… even when they are not engaging.
They may not like your posts. They may not comment. But they are observing.
I’ve had countless clients reach out to me saying they’ve been following my content for months before deciding to connect. That is what consistency does. It builds familiarity, credibility, and trust over time.
If you stop showing up, you disappear from their consideration.
Now let’s shift into ads, because this is where many people rush in too quickly.
Running Meta Ads without the right setup is one of the fastest ways to waste money. Ads are not magic. They amplify what already exists. If your foundation is weak, your results will be too.
The first thing you need is a properly set-up business page. When someone clicks on your ad, this is where they land. If your page lacks basic information like what you do, who you serve, or how to contact you, you immediately lose credibility.
Next, you need your Meta Business Portfolio. This acts as your central hub where all your business assets are managed, your pages, ad accounts, team access, and billing. Without this structure, things quickly become disorganised and difficult to scale.
Your ad account is where your campaigns actually live. This is where you define your objectives, set your budget, choose your audience, and track performance. It’s not just a tool, it’s where your strategy is executed.
Then comes one of the most critical pieces: the Meta Pixel. This small piece of code allows you to track what people do after they click your ad, whether they sign up, purchase, or leave. It gives you data, and data is what allows you to improve your campaigns over time.
Finally, and most importantly, you need a clear strategy. You must know exactly what your goal is, who you are targeting, and what message will resonate with them. Without this clarity, even the best ad setup will fail.
At the end of it all, consistency and advertising are not separate strategies, they work together.
Your content builds trust. Your ads amplify that trust.
When done correctly, this combination creates a powerful system where your audience is constantly seeing you, learning from you, and eventually choosing to work with you.
So instead of asking, “Why isn’t my content working?” or “Why aren’t my ads converting?” Start by asking:
👉 Do I have a clear strategy? 👉 Am I showing up consistently? 👉 Have I built the right foundation?
Because when those pieces are in place, everything else becomes easier.
