As I sat in the audience at SITAL College’s graduation ceremony , I couldn’t help but feel a sense of nostalgia wash over me. For the past 15 years, I have had the privilege of serving as an adjunct facilitator at this institution, making it one of my longest professional relationships.
Looking around the room, I saw so many familiar faces – not only my students who were graduating, but also colleagues who have become dear friends over the years. It was a testament to the tight-knit community that SITAL College has fostered, both for students and faculty alike.
Each graduate has a unique story of how they came to pursue their degree at SITAL. Some may have faced challenges or setbacks, while others were driven by a desire to create a better life for themselves and their families. But what unites them all is the determination to do something more with their lives. As I reflect on my students who graduated this year – Shawn Dalrymple, Roger Belgrave, Leslie Mitchell, Nichelle Eccles, Jeanine Phillip, and Rachel Guildford – I am filled with immense pride. They have persevered through the rigours of their academic journey and emerged stronger for it.
Graduation is not just a celebration of academic achievement, but also of personal growth and resilience. It is a testament to the hard work, dedication, and sacrifice that each student has made to reach this milestone. To all the graduates, I offer my heartfelt congratulations and best wishes for your future endeavours. May you continue to inspire and be inspired, to learn and to grow, and to make a difference in the world around you.
